 - UNIX System Administrator (South London)

My client based in South London is looking for a Senior UNIX Administrator. You will be responsible for managing the UNIX server environment, providing high level technical support for end-users and internal staff, and executing strategic technical implementations. Analyses, evaluates, maintains and installs UNIX hardware, operating systems, applications and peripherals in a networked multi-platform environment. Responsible for disaster recovery implementation for the UNIX environment.

Main Responsibilities & Experience

To manage the UNIX server environment, including complex installations, configuration, performance monitoring and setting standards for each.
Provide advanced problem resolution for the UNIX environment, including peripherals and integrated systems.
Understands the concepts of all phases of UNIX server administration, including network security, user administration, backup/restore procedures, and enterprise disaster recovery concepts.
Must be able to provide support and maintenance for the Oracle database solution, working in conjunction with database administrators.
Has advanced knowledge of enterprise storage systems and their administration.
Requires limited instruction and guidance on complex projects.
Regularly provides guidance and assists in training less experienced UNIX Administrators.
Engineering or certified in network engineering of one or more UNIX Operating systems and Unix hardware platforms.
Experience in UNIX systems platforms, in an enterprise multi-platform environment, including Web Servers and Firewalls. Network trouble-shooting techniques, systems integration experience and extensive hardware knowledge required.

 - IT Support Manager (Surrey / Hampshire)

My client a Large IT Company based in the Surrey/Hampshire borders is looking for a Senior IT Installations / Support Manager to manage the provision of our IT installation and support services to our client base.

The majority of the companies clients utilise Microsoft Windows Server products and standard server/PC software packages.
This would involve managing, and being primarily responsible for, all aspects of our service.

The successful candidate would be responsible for the activities of five IT engineering personnel including installation engineers and support engineers who are involved in:

Intel server builds and installations

Comprising mainly the HP Proliant ML and DL ranges, various Dell servers and servers of all kind. And possibly higher level technologies such as Storage Area Networks and Blade Servers. Experience of Router and firewall installation, configurations Comprising of Cisco Pix, Cisco Soho or 800 Series and above including various other router brands.
installation of Microsoft Server products, Including Windows Server, Exchange Server, SBS and possibly SharePoint Server and various network software and peripheral installation.

Including virus protection software, spam management software, backup software etc

Equipment builds Comprising of PCs and servers, equipment pick up, repair and delivery. Support call handing, management and troubleshooting Including telephone, remote and on-site support.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the efficient management of all of the above processes and will report to the Managing Director.

Handling of third line support calls and occasional site visits to clients will be required as part of the role.

This will be a senior appointment which will form part of the management team of the company.

The successful candidate will be a very experienced in IT installations engineer/consultant, capable of managing or conducting a complex network installation without assistance.

The ability to manage IT installation and support personnel would be a key requirement of the role.

Experience in the medium to small business market place would be highly desirable as would the ability to communicate with clients at all levels from non-technical IT administrator to expert IT manager.

An MCSE qualification to 2003 level is essential.

An ‘Associate’ level Cisco qualification, such as CCNA or CCDA, would be preferred. A ‘Professional’ level Cisco qualification, such as CCNP or CCDP, would be desirable.

The successful candidate will work within a technical team of 6 personnel.

Salary: Upto £100K depending on experience and qualifications

Our client are a Software company that pioneers the development and provision of recruitment software, support and consultancy services for the staffing and recruitment industries.

The Role: Advising new and existing clients and collecting their software requirements.
Production of technical documentation to support the application development lifecycle, including:
 - User Requirements
 - Technical Specifications
 - Implementation Instructions (Software Design)
 - Estimates and Quotes
 - Implementation of Software Designs.
 - Provide support to clients as part of the Helpdesk escalation procedure.
 - Provide support to other Design Consultants and users performing application development.

Qualifications and Experience: A background in the IT industry or an IT-based qualification is essential.
Application development and deployment within a commercial environment.
Exposure to all aspects of the application development lifecycle.
Proven ability in communicating effectively with non-technical clients.
Experience of SQL syntax and HTML.
Useful Experience includes:
Experience of Crystal Reports/Jasper Reports
Experience of the recruitment industry (either from a technical/software aspect, or as a recruitment consultant).
Software Development using high level languages and or database products (especially Adapt).
Strong technical ability and able to learn new concepts quickly.

Other Skills: Strong communication and presentation skills with both technical and non-technical people.
Comfortable dealing with people at all levels.
Willingness to travel and accept change at short notice.

We are looking for a Commissioning Engineer to work for our client who are a Telecoms reseller & the largest supplier of telephone systems to businesses in the South East. Must be familiar with at least 2 of the following HiPath, Index & SDX

Main Purpose, To oversee the smooth installation of a new system or enhancement. To provide the link between the office, the customer and the network provider. To lead other engineers by example in providing a professional and courteous service to customers on site.

Key tasks;
 - To carry out surveys of new installations or systems enhancements
 - To programme telephone systems and peripheral equipment to customer requirements.
 - To keep the installation/enhancement co-ordinators up-to-date with the progress of the installation, and any problems associated with it.
 - To liaise with the network provider to bring lines in or out of service.
 - To complete site documentation and ensure customers data is backed up onto disk.
 - To take full responsibility for the installation until completed including any escalations.
 - To provide technical support and advise to all staff and customers regarding installation requirements.
 - To be able to provide the customer with basic training, and competently answer customer questions on-site.
 - To work overtime, subject to personal availability, when required by the company in order to provide a satisfactory level of service to the customer.
 - To provide rapid service to the customer via remote programming.
 - To offer enhancements to customer and participate in the engineers lead generation programme.
 - To arrive at the customers site by 9.00am wherever practical.
